For millions of years, we obeyed the process of natural selection. human and all the other species are trying to kill and compete with each other. To be honest, is this really the right thing to do?
I know some people will say this is how things worked out, but it does not mean we have to mimic our ancestors. I think the reason we compete and kill is because we have not be able to find a better way for survival. Animals except human are simply lack of intelligence and self-awareness. Humans, as a rare species who gained both of them, we are very different, we recognized the rude nature of killing a long time ago. We have built religions (buddhism, christianity) based on the notion of peace, compassion and love. Paradoxically, the reality has no match to our belief. We kill other pieces in daily bases. We also kill each others for many reasons. We are killing and competing no matter how peaceful and compassionate we believe we are....
My thought on this topic is simple. We can simply invent a way to live without eating foods. The process of digesting is very inefficient and limiting according to e=mc2. We could actually absorb energy directly from the universe. It is just the matter of 'How'.
Lastly, I think anything is possible, the only limitation is our imagination.
